Osteopathy

Osteopaths offer assistance in a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions including:

  • back and neck pain and tension
  • headache
  • arthritis
  • pregnancy and post-partum care
  • sports and work injuries

Osteopaths assist in recovery from pain and improving general wellbeing through gentle “hands on” therapy and advice on posture, activities of daily life, exercise and stress management.

Osteopaths have completed 5 years of study at University and are registered by the government before entering practice.

During your first consultation, your osteopath will ask questions and examine you for any pathology or injury as well as stiffness, weakness, strength and patterns of muscle support.

The findings will be discussed with you to develop a treatment plan that will assist recovery, reduce pain and improve general well being. In addition strategies to prevent re-occurrence will be worked out with you.

Osteopaths provide:

  • Massage
  • Mobilisation and manipulation of joints (where appropriate)
  • Exercise therapy
  • Advice on workplace setup and other preventative strategies
  • Referral to your doctor or other services when required

Osteopaths are consulted by people of all ages, from babies to the young at heart!
