WorkCover has developed guidelines to assist insurers
decide when exercise programs are likely to be helpful
and the features expected of effective programs.
Solutions offer cost efficient programs with proven
results for injured workers with sub-acute or chronic
problems who do not need intensive psychological intervention.
WorkCover recommends these clients attend pain management
programs.
Solutions' functional conditioning programs for injured
workers incorporate WorkCover's recommendations and
evidence based best practice, including:
Assessment to identify changes in:
work status,
activities of daily living,
activity levels,
pain and disability levels,
psychological factors likely to slow recovery and
physical parameters;
Use of recognised objective measures
including the Revised Oswestry Disability Index, Vernon
Moir Neck Pain and Disability Index and Fear/Avoidance
Beliefs Questionaire;
Individually designed programs that
respond to return to work and activity goals;
Education and reassurance to support
increased function despite pain;
Planned activity upgrading;
Coping strategies to help with flare-ups
and to prevent recurrence;
Supervision by physiotherapists and osteopaths
with university trained Pilates teachers;
Involving and informing all interested
parties including treating practitioners, insurers,
rehabilitation providers and the workplace;
Evaluation and monitoring of progress
of each client and
Reporting results
using accepted standards.

for a referral form and return it to us by fax. We
will then contact the insurer for approval.
